This cartoon is addressing the starvation problem in Somalia. The chubby man (USA) fills himself with less important things such as sex scandals, and celeb news and just doesn't care about whats going on in other parts of the world. The cartoon was produced in Modern day America.  The cartoon first appeared in the Buffalo News. The cartoon is from the liberal aspect. It shows how much the USA really cares about world problems.

Adam Zyglis works for the Buffalo News. Hes originally from Buffalo. He also does illustrations in books.

The message from this cartoon is that America just doesn't give a rats ass. The irony............the man in the cartoon is fat and has a table full of "food" but doesn't have the appetite for more.

Its a single framed cartoon. The word and image are both used in the cartoon. While words express many points the pictures express the points further. The words were more important than the pictures. Puts more emphasis on the cares of American people.

American has an obesity problem therefore he uses a rather plump man. The drawings are very realistic. Yes they rely on caricatures. present events (starvation is somalia).

Comical tone, a fat man is not hungry. Two men and a restaurant scene are featured in the cartoon. the characters are Caucasian middle class lookin. No they do not represent actual people. No they are not fictional creations.

The cartoon refers to America. The fat man symbolizes America (imagery). A broad audience.
