blog #10

This article talks about the use of marijuana medically of course and some politicians are trying to get rid of it altogether. It states how long cannabis has used in the U.S for medical use, and how the cities are fighting over what "medical" marijuana really is. In 2011 in montana, brian schweitzer said he would like to see the medical marihuana law reformed because of its 28,000 patients. Gov. Schweitzer asks the question "Do we need 28,000 patients?". And then he goes over a schpele about costs and how he doesn't want to see it ending up on the streets.

It then goes over how california has lessened the penalty for small amounts of marijuana, equaling to about the amount of a speeding ticket and proposition 19 ( a ballot to have medical marijuana grown outright and taxed and regulated its use). advocates for prop. 19 had said if marijuana were legalized california could raise taxes and save law enforcement and prison resources.

And then goes on about legal actions taken to storefront owners who rent to medical marijuana dispensaries etc.
this article is very relevant to my research actually it covers everything I need to mention on my final paper. The use of cannabis and how the government is just not happy with it.
